This 2017 BMW 520d SE Touring has clearly spent much of its life as a motorway cruiser, and just as importantly, it has clearly been properly maintained. Don’t let the mileage put you off – this is a perfect example of why maintenance and condition matter far more than simply looking at a number on the dashboard.

There is loads of service history recorded on the iDrive, along with invoices showing important maintenance including a water pump, pulleys, servicing and EGR cooler.

Mechanically, it drives absolutely faultlessly. The engine is quiet with no timing-chain noise, the automatic gearbox is smooth and the whole car feels incredibly tight and well cared for.

The condition genuinely surprised us when it arrived in part exchange. For its age and mileage, we’d comfortably describe it as at least 8/10. The rear seats look like they’ve barely been sat in, there’s no horrible wear to the driver’s seat, and even the original protective stickers are still present on some of the door sill trims from when the car was new.

Naturally, there are the odd minor body marks you’d expect from a used 2017 car, but nothing that detracts from what is an exceptionally presentable estate.
